Chloroacetamide & Thiophenamines

acetamide

acetamide

acetamide
Acetamide, thiophenamine, or oxyacetamide herbicides (Frontier®, Lasso®, Dual®, or Define®) can cause heart shaped leaves and cupping or crinkling due to midvein inhibition. Injury symptoms appear if a high rate is applied or if soybean is growing under adverse conditions such as excessive rainfall, cool soils or cold weather. Soybeans generally have excellent tolerance, will recover rapidly and yield reduction is rare.

Dinitroanilines

dinitroaniline

trifluralin

trifluralin
Dinitroanline herbicides [pendimethalin(Prowl®), ethafluralin(Sonalan®), trifluralin(Treflan® and generic)] may cause delayed seedling emergence and stunting under cool, wet soil conditions. Plants may appear stunted and retain a dark green color. Hypocotyls may be swollen and roots may be poorly developed with stubby lateral roots. There may be some root proliferation and root tips may be pruned and swollen.

Surface applied pendimethalin

pendimethalin

pendimethalin

pendimethalin
Surface applications of pendimethalin (Prowl®) may cause a callus tissue to form at the soil surface, resulting in stem brittleness and breakage. Rainfall before soybean emergence will likely reduce this problem.
