Animals feeding on the soybean crop can significantly reduce yields. This damage is due primarily to the loss of part or all of the leaf area (petioles often remain), and sometimes the apical (terminal) growing point. When the terminal growing point is lost, axillary buds at each node, including the unifoliate and cotyledonary node, can produce branches to continue vegetative growth. |
