Soil compaction can result in poor crop growth and possibly reduced yields. Symptoms of damage include restricted or distorted (L-shaped) taproot growth which may result in moisture stress and/or nutrient deficiencies. Compacted zones called “hardpans” may restrict root development. When severe, various deep tillage practices may be helpful. |
