Pale green spots with raised centers usually form on lower leaf surfaces. Leaves become ragged; dead areas are torn by wind. Bacterial pustule occurs when warm temperatures and frequent rains prevail throughout the growing season. The pathogen is spread by wind-blown rain and survives in crop debris and seeds. Crop rotation, planting disease-free seed of resistant varieties and avoiding the use of equipment in a field when foliage is wet may help reduce bacterial pustule. |
