Description
Mary Schaeffer (Polacco) is a geneticist with the USDA-ARS and curator of the Maize Genome Database, a web resource served from a campus site. Her research focuses on bioinformatics strategies to manipulate and ‘mine’ information on plant genomes and their functionality, from gene product to whole plant and interspecific. Emphasis is on MaizeDB, but work is collaborative with other national and international resources, including genome specific, germplasm and sequence databases.
